Sex education call for primary pupils
Primary schools in England want to teach their pupils about sex, relationships and about alcohol. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) wants primary schools and also secondary schools to become aware of these subjects. They want to inform the pupils about the consequences of having unsafe sex, bad relations and binge drinking. The pupils should be informed in time before it is too late, says a health adviser. The government is developing a new curriculum for most schools in England. NICE declared that teachers should give the lessons preparatory because these are serious issues in the society.
The reason I chose this news item, is that I agree that the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence want to inform the pupils about having unsafe sex, bad relationships and binge drinking. The schools should work with NICE because nowadays this might become a serious issue for most pupils around the age of 11. Pupils should know what to do if they get in touch with these issues. Schools should know that some parents will not agree if the teachers give lessons about this, so they have to limit the information to prevent problems with parents.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital to use robot 'workers'
This is the first hospital in the United Kingdom that will use robots for carrying out day- to- day tasks. These robots can deliver food, clean the operating theatre and carry clinical waste. The robots are able to move themselves with the service lift and pick up some items. A programme would be set out for the robots to find their own way back in the hospital. The programmes can be reinstalled for following other tasks in the hospital. The manager of the hospital says that the robots would not take in the place of humans, but they will use them for doing the easy tasks.
I think it is a good way to use robots for day- to- day tasks, but instead the robots can not socialize like humans. I think the patients would like to have more contact with the nurses. These are just robots and cannot talk like humans, but on the other hand is it easy to use them because they can do tasks which need more attention. I also think that using robots will be very costly for the government in the future because the programmes should be reinstalled every time when it is needed and this system will be very expensive.

Woman 'murdered by internet date' and left in suitcase
Clinton Bailey an IT specialist, aged 36, murdered 37-year old Leah Questin in September last year. Her body was found by a dog walker in a suitcase next to a dried-up pond. In her life, she did not have a serious relationship. She longed for attention and affection, so she started searching on the internet, with success. She started to talk with Jason Goode via an advert he had placed on Gumtree. After they got to know each other better, Leah Questin was killed. Leah Questin was murdered by Clinton Bailey, the man she knew as Jason Goode.
I do not want to give comments on this news article. I only want to say that in my opinion is internet dating risky because you can not see the real person behind the computer, so they can be anyone they want to be. If people meet each other via the internet, then it cannot be problem if they see each other in daily life. Maybe other people have relationships via the internet, which is running very normal in anyway. The positive thing is that people can talk a lot and make contact to know each other better before you want to go out with someone.

High meat diet 'linked to early periods'
Investigators have researched about what the consequences will be for eating meat. Eating meat will cause early periods for young girls. If girls eating meat at young age, they will get their period sooner than a girl who eats meat at a later age. Normally a girl will get her first period around the age of 12, but the results are showing something different. If a girl eats a lot of meat at the age of seven, it is more likely that she gets her period early. The results are 75% at the age of seven. Starting your period early can be linked to getting breast cancer in the future. They recommend stopping eating meat or to just eat diet meat for your health.
I do not believe anything in this news article. People may have researched this, but it sounds ridiculous. Young girls will never know when their period will start for the first time. They also say if people have their period very soon, they can link this to breast cancer in the future. That sounds also incomprehensible in anyway. This does not mean that everyone who has their period at the age of seven will get breast cancer caused by eating meat. I think this is nonsense. Eating meat will not help to avoid your early period.
What do you think of this research?! Nonsense or do you believe it?

Teachers are half of free school inquiries
Most of the teachers in United Kingdom said that they were interested in starting a “free school”. Education secretary Michael Gove explained that some schools will cause chaos in some cases. He also emphasized that the “free schools” are educated under level. Mainly the teachers want these “free schools” to fill the gap between rich children and poor children. These kinds of schools are similar in Sweden and the United States of America and it works successfully. If the government is going to build a ‘free school’, the first one will be opened in September 2011 in the United Kingdom.
I think teachers have a good idea to propose a “free school” for poor and even rich children. It is better that the gap between poor and rich is minimal. The government can see the positive development among the free schools in Sweden and the United States of America. Michael Gove has a good reason if he does not agree about building free schools because he is afraid that chaos will be caused in some cases. It is not easy to build a school without any disorder, therefore the government should think carefully if they want a fresh new school. On the other hand, I think that the teachers should always put their students in first place.

Clegg outlines plans to improve children's fortunes
Nick Clegg is planning to give a better environment to the children in the United Kingdom. This is because nowadays children have more fear and are really depressed. Clegg has plans to let the children be more flourish, but instead the government wants to stop the financial support for the parents. To raise a child is not easy, especially if they are brought up in a poor environment. Therefore, Nick Clegg wants a fresh new plan for the children and also for the parents. Nick wants to create something useful and to improve children’s lives in the future. He wants to plan how the children and the parents should act with family breakdown and divorcing.
I think Nick Clegg has a good point to plan something for the children mainly in United Kingdom. Especially the children, who are raised in a poor condition will be very pleased with this. One thing I wish I could read more about ‘the plan’ he wanted to create for the children. I think that supporting the children will help them to live better in their environment without any anxieties. Some information about the family breakdown and divorcing would be sort of preparation for them. In general, the plan should help some parents to act more carefully towards their children.

Man dies after house fire rescue in Chelmsford
A 40-year old man and a 33-year old man were rescued after a house fire at the Galleywood Road in Chelmsford. The 33-year old man is being treated for breathing in smoke. The 40-year old man died in hospital. The smoke alarm did not go off, because the smoke alarm did not contain any batteries. The fire service still does not know what or who started the fire. They suspect that nobody did this on purpose. The police said that nowadays people should be aware of this kind of situations. It is important to place a good alarm system at home to prevent such incidents.
The strange thing is that they did not find a suspect or a reason that started the fire. It was bizarre that the alarm did not have any batteries. If people place an alarm system in house, then they should also place batteries. The fire service said that no one would do this on purpose without even investigating the case properly. You cannot say something like that if a research has not started yet. In my opinion this news item is not reliable. I think that some information was missing.

Facebook changes are not enough say groups
The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) says that Facebook needs more alternatives than the internet page has now. Nowadays more people have Facebook because it is safer and more private than internet sites like “Myspace”. The changes of the site are good, but they need to increase the safety options. Simon Davies says that Facebook has a monolithic approach, means making friends on the internet, also called as monolithic approach. Facebook wants to give the users more control and safety on their profiles. People should be able to control their area against the non-members, who can always look on their profile.
I agree with the ideas about what they want to change on Facebook. I am also a member of Facebook, but if Facebook has more privacy on people’s profile, then it would be more reassuring. The non-members can also see your private reports, unless you hide some information from your profile. The friendship on Facebook is very open if people make contact with each other. Everyone can see each other’s comments, videos, pictures, etc. It is a nice way to have contact with friends and family. In general, I would appreciate if there are more options to protect your own profile

'Why I love my ID card'
The national identity cards (I.D) will be destroyed in the future, because the government said that these cards are costly, unneeded and unwanted, but John Kirby indicated that the card is very useful. He tells us that the personal information on the card is important. Kirby was the first person when this card system was available in his country. He was totally attached to his card. Now the government will destroy the identity cards and John still thinks that this system of destroying the cards is a backward step of the government.
If the cards system will be ended, it would be a big problem for society. Most people have an I.D card, because it is smaller than a passport and very useful because you can show it easily when necessary. A passport takes in more space than an I.D card, it is also more fragile. I agree with John on his opinion about this issue. I believe that other people think the same as John. I have an I.D. card myself and I would not trade it for a passport.
What do you think, should there be an end of the I.D card or not?

Brighton Beach sunburned baby discharged from hospital
A five month old child, who has burn marks over his body, has been taken to the hospital for medical attention. He was with his mother in the South coast of Plumstead. It was one of the most sunny days on Sunday in London, when the police saw the child suffering from the sunburns. Immediately, they took the mother and the child to hospital. Inspector Derrick said that they were safe now and being placed in a safe environment. The problem was solved after medical help from the specialists. If they are not in hospital in time, the baby gets a low blood pressure, kidney failures and the risk of dehydration.
Little children like this child, should not be in the sun, because it is really dangerous for their body and for their health. If the problem could not me solved, then there could be a big risk of dehydration and maybe other diseases. I cannot believe that a five month old boy was taken to the beach, apparently this was very normal to the mother, which is actually unacceptable for other people. It is a big risk if people take their little children to the beach, unless they use sun lotion.
Do you take a little child to the beach when is it very sunny?

Two arrested after missing twins found safe and well.
The twins Blue Francis and Vixen Rea Francis of four years old were found safe. One week ago the father of the twins went to the police and wanted help because his children were missing. The police thought that their mother Tamara Dyson of 37 had the children with her. A Lincolnshire police officer said that they found a car at a petrol station at midnight. After saw this, a woman and a man have been arrested, who were suspected of kidnapping these children. The woman and the man are under police protection.
It is a tragic news item because I do not believe that a mother can do something like this. These are just young kids and they do not understand what is happening. It is also strange that the mother wants to kidnap these children from their father while the father is searching for them. I do not understand that two ‘normal’ people (what I think is the case) are arrested of kidnapping children, but were the twins really kidnapped by them or is this just a suspicion?

Behaviour 'good' or 'outstanding' in most schools
Four in five schools in England have an outstanding or a good behaviour. The school inspections of England explained in 2006 that nearly 74 % of the children in schools were rated with good or outstanding behaviour. In 2007 the statistics were 78.6%, which was better. In North- and South-England were the statistics above 80%. The West and the East of England were less than 80%. Most of the schools agreed with this research in England, but some schools disagree with these results. The reason about the disagreement was that the schools did not believe in the research of the inspectors.
Opinion:
I think it is better that most schools developed more, to get the 78.6% in stead of 74%. People can see the positive development among schools. It was a bit weird that the East and the West had less that 80% good or outstanding and the other schools under the 80%. I do not know if I have to believe this, because these are just statistics. I can imagine that other schools, which have an outstanding result, do agree with these results. I think that parents would not agree with the results of West- and East-England, because parents want that their children get a good education in anyway.
What do you think??

Labour will force foreign workers to speak English
Gordon Brown explained on April 12th that all public sector workers obliged to speak English. Brown hopes that inhabitants (voters) understand his concerns in this area. If the inhabitants want to get quickly a job, then the English language is applied for them, says Gordon Brown . After that, the party will promise to increase the minimum wage. The party declared that applying the English language should be a positive development and a correction in the United Kingdom.
I think this is a good effort to learn the English language because if the foreign workers apply this language, the communication would be easier in the society. But Gordon Brown knows exactly how to generate this, and I think this is a bit in a sneaky way to expect from the foreign workers to speak English as against getting high paid.

Manchester mother jailed for neglecting baby boy
A 13 months old baby Alex was neglected by his own mother in Manchester. The baby burned almost to death tied up in his own pushchair. Tracey Sutherland, mother of Alex, was sentenced to 27 months in prison. Tracey told the Manchester Crown Court that she was alone with him. Hospital discovered some injuries on Alex’s body. The mother had called the police in the morning of 10 November to explain to them that her baby died, but that was not the case, the baby was injured but was still alive. The reason of doing was that the mother had some depression problems and drunk to much alcohol. Unfortunately, the baby died on the way to the hospital that day.
I was completely in shock when I read this piece of information on the internet. The baby died in a very miserable way. I could not understand that some mothers like Tracey can do this to their own child. The mother had some ‘personal’ problems, but the baby should not be the victim of this. Nowadays, adults are not very responsible and do not have the capacity to raise a child. I find this subject like a nightmare and I think that a lot of mothers think the same as I do.
