Sex education call for primary pupils

Primary schools in England want to teach their pupils about sex, relationships and about alcohol. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) wants primary schools and also secondary schools to become aware of these subjects. They want to inform the pupils about the consequences of having unsafe sex, bad relations and binge drinking. The pupils should be informed in time before it is too late, says a health adviser. The government is developing a new curriculum for most schools in England. NICE declared that teachers should give the lessons preparatory because these are serious issues in the society.

The reason I chose this news item, is that I agree that the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence want to inform the pupils about having unsafe sex, bad relationships and binge drinking. The schools should work with NICE because nowadays this might become a serious issue for most pupils around the age of 11. Pupils should know what to do if they get in touch with these issues. Schools should know that some parents will not agree if the teachers give lessons about this, so they have to limit the information to prevent problems with parents.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital to use robot 'workers'

This is the first hospital in the United Kingdom that will use robots for carrying out day- to- day tasks. These robots can deliver food, clean the operating theatre and carry clinical waste. The robots are able to move themselves with the service lift and pick up some items. A programme would be set out for the robots to find their own way back in the hospital. The programmes can be reinstalled for following other tasks in the hospital. The manager of the hospital says that the robots would not take in the place of humans, but they will use them for doing the easy tasks.

I think it is a good way to use robots for day- to- day tasks, but instead the robots can not socialize like humans. I think the patients would like to have more contact with the nurses. These are just robots and cannot talk like humans, but on the other hand is it easy to use them because they can do tasks which need more attention. I also think that using robots will be very costly for the government in the future because the programmes should be reinstalled every time when it is needed and this system will be very expensive.

Woman 'murdered by internet date' and left in suitcase

Clinton Bailey an IT specialist, aged 36, murdered 37-year old Leah Questin in September last year. Her body was found by a dog walker in a suitcase next to a dried-up pond. In her life, she did not have a serious relationship. She longed for attention and affection, so she started searching on the internet, with success. She started to talk with Jason Goode via an advert he had placed on Gumtree. After they got to know each other better, Leah Questin was killed. Leah Questin was murdered by Clinton Bailey, the man she knew as Jason Goode.

I do not want to give comments on this news article. I only want to say that in my opinion is internet dating risky because you can not see the real person behind the computer, so they can be anyone they want to be. If people meet each other via the internet, then it cannot be problem if they see each other in daily life. Maybe other people have relationships via the internet, which is running very normal in anyway. The positive thing is that people can talk a lot and make contact to know each other better before you want to go out with someone.

High meat diet 'linked to early periods'

Investigators have researched about what the consequences will be for eating meat. Eating meat will cause early periods for young girls. If girls eating meat at young age, they will get their period sooner than a girl who eats meat at a later age. Normally a girl will get her first period around the age of 12, but the results are showing something different. If a girl eats a lot of meat at the age of seven, it is more likely that she gets her period early. The results are 75% at the age of seven. Starting your period early can be linked to getting breast cancer in the future. They recommend stopping eating meat or to just eat diet meat for your health.

I do not believe anything in this news article. People may have researched this, but it sounds ridiculous. Young girls will never know when their period will start for the first time. They also say if people have their period very soon, they can link this to breast cancer in the future. That sounds also incomprehensible in anyway. This does not mean that everyone who has their period at the age of seven will get breast cancer caused by eating meat. I think this is nonsense. Eating meat will not help to avoid your early period.

What do you think of this research?! Nonsense or do you believe it?

Teachers are half of free school inquiries

Most of the teachers in United Kingdom said that they were interested in starting a “free school”. Education secretary Michael Gove explained that some schools will cause chaos in some cases. He also emphasized that the “free schools” are educated under level. Mainly the teachers want these “free schools” to fill the gap between rich children and poor children. These kinds of schools are similar in Sweden and the United States of America and it works successfully. If the government is going to build a ‘free school’, the first one will be opened in September 2011 in the United Kingdom.

I think teachers have a good idea to propose a “free school” for poor and even rich children. It is better that the gap between poor and rich is minimal. The government can see the positive development among the free schools in Sweden and the United States of America. Michael Gove has a good reason if he does not agree about building free schools because he is afraid that chaos will be caused in some cases. It is not easy to build a school without any disorder, therefore the government should think carefully if they want a fresh new school. On the other hand, I think that the teachers should always put their students in first place.

Clegg outlines plans to improve children's fortunes

Nick Clegg is planning to give a better environment to the children in the United Kingdom. This is because nowadays children have more fear and are really depressed. Clegg has plans to let the children be more flourish, but instead the government wants to stop the financial support for the parents. To raise a child is not easy, especially if they are brought up in a poor environment. Therefore, Nick Clegg wants a fresh new plan for the children and also for the parents. Nick wants to create something useful and to improve children’s lives in the future. He wants to plan how the children and the parents should act with family breakdown and divorcing.

I think Nick Clegg has a good point to plan something for the children mainly in United Kingdom. Especially the children, who are raised in a poor condition will be very pleased with this. One thing I wish I could read more about ‘the plan’ he wanted to create for the children. I think that supporting the children will help them to live better in their environment without any anxieties. Some information about the family breakdown and divorcing would be sort of preparation for them. In general, the plan should help some parents to act more carefully towards their children.

Man dies after house fire rescue in Chelmsford

A 40-year old man and a 33-year old man were rescued after a house fire at the Galleywood Road in Chelmsford. The 33-year old man is being treated for breathing in smoke. The 40-year old man died in hospital. The smoke alarm did not go off, because the smoke alarm did not contain any batteries. The fire service still does not know what or who started the fire. They suspect that nobody did this on purpose. The police said that nowadays people should be aware of this kind of situations. It is important to place a good alarm system at home to prevent such incidents.

The strange thing is that they did not find a suspect or a reason that started the fire. It was bizarre that the alarm did not have any batteries. If people place an alarm system in house, then they should also place batteries. The fire service said that no one would do this on purpose without even investigating the case properly. You cannot say something like that if a research has not started yet. In my opinion this news item is not reliable. I think that some information was missing.
